So, where are we now?

As of today, June 13, 2023, we’re in the mountains of Western North Carolina.

Since we’ve been working on our YouTube Channel and Instagram activity so much, I believe we’ve neglected our blogging site. So today, my goal is to remedy that with some updates.

In review, starting back at the first of the year, we’ve been continuing to work monthly SOWER projects https://sowerministry.org/ .

We started the year off, by spending January at Sherry White Ministries in Wauchula, FL http://www.sherrywhiteministries.com/ They have a wonderful ministry thereby providing the place for God to work restoring life back into women the enemy was trying to destroy. We lived in the RV Park that was on the farm named Pioneer Village. Dave did a really cute video about the chickens that also lived at the farm, in the RV park area. Check it out! https://youtu.be/w0pxQ_tkDks Sherry does a weekly radio broadcast and while we were there we were asked to do an interview with her on the radio.

She broadcasts “A Life Worth Living” on http://1021theoutlaw.com/

In February, we moved north to Live Oak, Florida, and helped the Florida Sheriff’s Boys Ranch prepare for their annual Open House and Horse Show. It’s also a time for those that lived there, at some time in their life, to reunite with other former residents and staff. Besides helping in several areas on the property, we got to experience the fun open house. Since we were house parents there for a few years we were also able to reconnect with one youth that lived there while we were there and some of the present and former staff.

From there we moved west and a little further north over to Camp Baldwin in Elberta, Alabama so we could help them prepare for their summer camping season. Camp Baldwin is really close to Foley, Gulf Shores, and Orange Beach Alabama. I always enjoy the Gulf Coast and the opportunity to eat dinner at Lambert’s Cafe – Home of the Throwed Rolls https://throwedrolls.com/lamberts-cafe-iii/ > Camp Baldwin provides the opportunity for youth to experience the fun of summer camp and grow in their relationship with Jesus. http://www.campbaldwin.org/ It’s a great ministry and SOWER project.

It’s June now as I write this. We’re on a SOWER project at Ridge Haven Retreat and Conference Center in Brevard North Carolina. We started in May and we’re continuing through June. In May it was just Dave and I on this project. This month there are three of us. I’ve been helping out in the laundry. Dave and the other SOWER man have been quite busy replacing rotted wooden walkways, bridges, and benches. https://www.ridgehaven.org/

The added benefit of being here is that our older son and his family live nearby. We’ve been able to spend time with them. We got to attend our oldest granddaughter’s graduation party, see the two younger granddaughters at camp and go to the youngest one’s dance recital.

In a couple weeks. we’ll be moving east a little over to the Billy Graham Cove in Asheville for another SOWER project. https://thecove.org/events/ We served there last year and helped out in a couple different areas. We won’t know what we will be doing there this time until we get there. The Cove is a beautiful piece of property and very peaceful. We’re looking forward to it. AND, it’s not that far from our kids there either.

In late July, my niece, who lives in San Diego California is getting married. Dave and I will be moving our R V over to a campground in Tennessee where we can leave it for a couple weeks so we can fly out to California and stay a little while.

We’ve got more SOWER projects lined up for the rest of 2023 we’ll tell you about later. Since we’ve been working a project each month, we’re taking a few months off at the beginning of 2024.

When we work a SOWER project, it’s a 3-week commitment, 4 days a week, 3 hours per day for the women and 6 hours per day for the men. The host provides a full hook-up site for our rigs, and laundry facilities, and at many camps, most of our meals are provided. The last week of the month, and most weekends we usually spend touring and exploring new areas.

As I said at the beginning, we’ve been spending quite a bit of time building and developing our YouTube Channel and Instagram presence. We’re also working on creating our website. You can find us on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/@escapingnormalrv On Instagram, we’re #escapingnormalrv

I hope you find them interesting and enjoyable. If so, please subscribe and click on the notifications so you know when a new post is made. Please keep in mind, this is a work in progress. We’ve been working with a great coach and friend – Dr. Gena Lester who has been helping us from the beginning to start the YouTube channel and the Instagram account. She’s continuing to work with us to make the improvements. She has several online businesses. Her most recent one and the one that we’re most familiar with is Redesigning Your Purpose https://www.youtube.com/@redesigningyourpurpose

I’ll try to stay more up-to-date on Here-n-there.net but don’t forget to look for us on YouTube and Instagram.

Until then…
