We noticed that with first time RVers, they’re a little hesitant to get started because of not really knowing what would be a good fit for them. Sometimes, people will rent a motorhome, like the ones you can find at the different R V rental places. (We don’t want to name names here) But, I don’t think you get the right experience with those. They may provide the basic, bed, shower and stove, but it’s not really yours and maybe not set up the way you would want it. And, with those, there’s no second vehicle. You’re not towing or pulling anything, so you have no way, other than driving the motorhome, out to a restaurant, to a grocery, laundromat, or tourist location. Towing your R V or towing a vehicle behind your motorhome gives you those options. And, so does tent camping. We plan to add frequent suggestions, tips and maybe even a chart of some kind with terminology you’ll want to learn as well as a suggested packing list. But, for this post, let’s just look at what type of unit to consider when looking to obtain an R V, Family size is probably the most important. How many people will you need beds for? For tents, there’s the same consideration. How many people need to fit in the tent? Will you need extra room for changing clothes or separating adults from children? Multi-room tents are available. You can go almost as large or as small as you like. There are even hammock tents that you can hang in trees. Then it comes down to comfort. Do you just want something to get you from here to there? Or, something to spend a little more time in? Are you someone who works on the road and needs workspace? And, lastly, for this post, how will you tow your R V? Are you going to purchase something that you can tow with your car or SUV? Or, are you looking for something like a Fifth Wheel, that requires a special hitch and a truck capable of pulling a 38 plus foot long home? If you are considering a motorhome and will you be pulling a vehicle behind it, you need to know that some vehicles can be “flat towed” and others cannot. If they cannot, be flat towed, you will need a tow dolly. If they can be flat towed, you still need a special tow hook up. We will spend time discussing these issues on future posts and on our YouTube channel. Probably, the most important thing to do at first is look at several options, visit several R V sales locations or an R V Super Show like are held in different parts of the country. Also, look at R V websites and YouTube channels. Hopefully, you found this helpful. Check our blog posts. There will be more soon.
